She tells him that it is nearly impossible for a comedic actor to transition into a serious role. He tells her that it isn’t and then names several actors who have made the transition. She then tells him that Ted does represent Tom Hanks so she might be able to get the two a meeting.
Ted meets with Stuart to discuss his representing Valerie. Stuart tells him that Valerie begged his wife to get him to represent her. Before Ted storms off in anger, Stuart tries to get him to talk about something else but he walks away out of anger.
Back in New York in 2010, Ted asks Stuart to represent a murderer that he is trying to get into WITSEC. Ted also offers him protection because the task might result in a mob boss coming after him. After Stuart agrees, Ted introduces him to Kevin.
Erica tells Leah about her conundrum with Brain and Tom Hanks. Leah then asks her what they are working with because Brain is never going to win an Oscar. After a bit more discussion this leads to Leah realizing that Brian wants to reinvent himself like Alfonso Ribeiro.

Back in 2010, Ted and Stuart argue over where to send Jimmy Patriale (Dan Sanders-Joyce) to WITSEC. After Ted storms out of the room, he realizes that his mob target hired his father to hire him. Jimmy doesn’t realize this because Ted took his mother’s last name. If it comes out that Ted’s father took money from the mob, his time at the Justice Department will be over. Stuart is afraid if he doesn’t get Jimmy a good deal he will get another lawyer and the information will come out. Despite this, Ted still refuses to give Jimmy the WITSEC location he wants. This leads to Stuart wanting to pretend he was the lawyer that Ted’s father hired.
Things do not go so well for Ted and Lester when they meet with Valerie and Stuart. Despite the prenuptial agreement, Lester ends up having to give in to Valeria’s demands.
Rick meets with Samantha to give her his list of three lawyers that he wants to fire. She tells him that she was basically testing him to see if he has what it takes to be head of entertainment. The conversation doesn’t get any further for the moment because Ted interrupts to ask Samantha if she knew that Stuart got named executor of his father’s will. She tells him that she didn’t know.
Erica tries to meet with Leah to tell her about her plans for Brian but Leah tells her that she’s already got Patton Oswald to agree to meet with Brian.

At the renegotiation, Valerie tells Lester that she will not be standing with him at trial. This leads to Lester realizing why he didn’t remember the picture being taken. His eyes were apparently bothering him that night and he was wearing his glasses. In the picture, he had his glasses in his left hand, meaning he couldn’t have seen Valerie and Simon together. The meeting ends with Valerie agreeing to stand by Lester in trial.
Rick calls Erica to tell her that Ted’s father died. She tells him that she used his knowing what a client needs thing today. After speaking with Rick, Erica calls Leah to tell her how impressed she has been with her.

Back in 2010, Ted tells Jimmy about his boss using his father to hire him. Ted tells him that if feels tempted to use that information, he will cut him loose and find another way to make his case. Stuart also tells him that he and Helen Lane (Elizabeth Bogush) are going to start a family.
Later that night, Rosalyn calls Ted to tell him that his father is being buried the following day. She also tells him that she thinks he should go. He instantly realizes that Stuart put her up to it.
The following morning the episode ends with Ted going to the funeral.
Suits LA Review
This was a pretty typical slow episode. I did enjoy the ending and I liked seeing Brian and Patton go at it, but other than that there honestly isn’t much to say. I do wish there wasn’t as much ping-ponging between the characters but I get trying to catch up with everyone. Lester’s trail was a bit interesting at the beginning, but now it is just becoming more and more over the top by the week. Overall, in my opinion, this was a very slow episode that was saved by Brian and Patton, even though they weren’t in it but a total of 10 minutes or so. I’d have to give it a 4.9 out of 10.
