The episode opens with Ali telling Moe there are no drugs on the street. Needing a fix, Moe tells him to go make more money. Ali curses him. Moe reminds him that he has saved him plenty of times when they hear a noise downstairs. Trying to be quiet, Moe takes several steps, the floor squeaks, and walks into the hallway. Angry Sean Wallace (Joe Cole) yells out, followed by a round of bullets. Moe orders Ali to go take a look. He reluctantly crawls across the floor and looks throw a hole to see Sean lying on the floor and Zeek (Andrew Koji) walking around. He crawls back to where Sean is waiting. Hearing something, Zeek looks around, sees a fox, and leaves. Moe and Ali see Sean, filled with bullet holes, lying on the floor. Later, Luan Dushaj (Orli Shuka) pays and thanks Moe and Ali in cash for killing Sean. Elsewhere, Billy drives around looking for Sean. Cornelius warns that Luan will be onto them and they can’t keep driving around. Billy brings the car to an abrupt halt. They receive a call from a man informing them of Sean’s death. Billy refuses to believe it. Cornelius tells him that two men dropped his body off to Luan. Billy angrily hits the steering wheel.
Zeek enters a flat through a window and sniffs a shirt hanging in the closet. Marian Wallace (Michelle Fairley) puts her ear against the door. Zeek has his ear against the other side of the door. She whispers, “Sean” and swings open the doors to find the room empty. At the hospital, Elliot dreams of Naomi Carter (Evelyn Miller) covered in burns and suddenly wakes to find Simone Thearle (T’Nia Miller) in his room. She says 632 deaths have been reported so far and the survivors have brain damage. Sitting up, he asks why she is there. She questions how he transformed from a wannabe do-gooder to a heartless prick overnight. She promises to shorten his sentence if he gives himself up. He asks if she has evidence of his crimes and declines her offer. She boasts of getting what she wants. Upon leaving, she meets Shannon Dumani (Pippa Bennett-Warner). Elliot disconnects his IV and looks out the window to see several plain-clothes officers who he believes are following him. Shannon informs him of Sean’s death. He suggests Sean’s killer also killed their driver. He asks her to detain the officers while he gets away. She gives him her car keys.
Ali tells Moe that he can utilize the money to pay for his four-year-old daughter’s birthday party. Moe expresses his desire to buy a nice gaff near the river, so he can look down on those who used to ignore them. Upon entering Sullivan’s Pool Hall, Ali sets the bag of cash on the bar, orders two bottles of champagne, and pulls out some money to pay. Sonnex (Danusia Samai) recalls he didn’t have enough money to buy drugs this morning. After boasting of killing Sean, Ali asks to buy two bags and demands she get out of his face. Hearing everything, Moe criticizes him for saying he killed Sean. Sonnex calls someone. Elsewhere, Luan receives a visit from Elliot. Looking at Sean’s lifeless body, Luan proposes a toast. Elliot reminds him that he asked for him not to be killed. Luan says Sean killed his daughter. Holding up a photo of Zeek, Elliot claims he killed the driver and recently mowed him down. Luan denies getting a good look at the two men who delivered Sean to him. He questions why the cocaine spiker would kill Sean. Elliot suggests Sean had no connection to the spiked cocaine. Luan insists it was Sean, Cornelius, and Billy. Elliot warns that Marian will find out about him having Sean’s body in his boot.
At a boxing gym, Zeek looks at a bag of cash in his locker. He receives a text from someone saying two guys turned Sean’s body over to Luan. He’s asked if they have a problem. Zeek calls them and says he did everything they asked. He insists the place was empty and no one saw him. Zeek asks where they are now before promising to find them. Liam (Tim McDonnell) tells Marian and Luan is there to see her. He brings her Sean’s body. Luan tells Marian that her son was responsible for the death of his daughter. He cannot let that be. Luan admits he does not want war with her, but he must kill Billy and Cornelius. As Luan leaves, he orders his man to place some men around the property because he wants to see what Marian does. Elliot picks up Faz and Saba who have information about some guy boasting about killing Sean Wallace. Ali celebrates with Moe at the pub and brags about Sean Wallace making them rich. Moe tells Ali to keep his mouth shut while he goes to the bathroom. Cornelius and Billy arrive at the pub moments later. Outside, Billy insists he’s ready. They go inside and overhear Ali talking about killing Sean Wallace. Cornelius interrupts and asks about Ali’s actions.
Moe (George Somner) uses the bathroom. He joins Ali (Ali Azhar) who is busy speaking to Cornelius Quinn (Richard Dormer). Ali is telling him a big lie. Billy Wallace (Brian Vernel) and Cornelius attack him and Moe tries to flee. Billy follows him into the bathroom where he shoots him in the leg but lets him live. Cornelius fights a few others. He tells Ali he’d kill him, but he believes the lad has other ideas. Billy begins drowning Moe in the toilet until Moe tells him to take the money. Moe is drowned to death anyway. Ali promises they didn’t kill Sean. Elliot Carter (Sope Dirisu) comes in with a gun and tells them not to move. Cornelius tells Elliot they didn’t have anything to do with his cocaine. Elliot asks for the one who killed Sean. Billy gives him Ali, but Elliot says that’s not the guy who did it. Ali claims he knows who the real killer is. Saba (Jahz Armando) and Elliot leave with Ali moments later. Faz (Fady Elsayed) helps escort Ali out of the building.
Billy shoots at their vehicle as they speed away. When the car stops, Elliot pulls Ali out of the car and interrogates him. Ali says he saw the guy who shot Sean. The guy supposedly lives near the place where Ali sleeps. Cop cars approach. Officer Knight (Harrison Daniels) grabs Elliot and arrests him for possessing a firearm with intent to cause violence. Elliot yells for Saba to find out what he needs to know. Saba looks and finds out that Ali is missing from the car. Zeek watches Ali run. Lale approaches a safe and opens it. She retrieves a key before Merwan (Murat Erkek) approaches and asks where she’s going. He tells her that Sean Wallace is dead. She also missed the tekmil with the elders. Merwan complains he’s kept the operation going for her only for Lale to keep secrets from him. Merwan asks how she escaped Asif. Lale says Merwan knows what he needs to. She leaves after saying she has work to do. When Lale is alone, she tells herself not to cry for Sean Wallace.
Elliot is placed in a cell. Luan meets Ed Dumani (Lucian Masamati). Ed tells him this ends now, but Luan doesn’t want to stop until he gets Billy and Cornelius. Ed warns him that Marian won’t stand for that. He urges Luan to let it go. Marian receives a call from Ed but she doesn’t answer it. She sits with Sean’s body and washes it. Marian meets Cornelius and Billy. She says Luan thinks they’re to blame for his daughter’s death. Marian can offer them protection, but she wants help destroying those who killed Sean. Billy claims Marian left Sean to die. He wants her to admit she made a mistake and abandoned them. Cornelius says Sean is dead and the people who framed them aren’t. He believes the only way to get justice for Sean is to work together. Luan learns they’re together and possibly planning something. Elliot yells that he wants his phone call. Ali has a toy and a birthday card for a four-year-old. Faz and Saba try to track down Ali.
Zeek confronts Ali who insists he didn’t tell them anything. Zeek kills him anyway. Faz and Saba find his body a short time later. Saba tells Elliot when he calls. He tells her to go dark and look after herself. After the call, Elliot asks the officer to tell Simone Thearle that he’s ready to talk. Simone meets Elliot who insists he’s not the one she’s looking for. Elliot says someone murdered Sean Wallace. That person is involved in swapping the drugs and killing 600 people. Elliot says you can find the people who did this by finding the clean cocaine. He says he’s read about her and knows all about her brother. Elliot believes they can help each other. Simone doesn’t seem eager to work with him. Lale is stopped and her license is checked. She’s told it’s part of the mayor’s war on drugs. Lale shows the officer the back of the van. Simone returns to Elliot with a confession. She wants him to sign and date it for a week’s time. If he doesn’t deliver by then, he’ll be back inside.
Elliot signs and says the release needs to go through the Dumani lawyers. He says it has to look real for both of them. Elliot tells Simone that the coke is in Belgian beer kegs. Lale has Belgian beer kegs in the back of her van.
Gangs Of London Review
This episode of Gangs of London was okay although a bit slow at times. The series still has a lot of action and gore. Those two elements remain highlights of the series while the script is fairly dull. There are very few likable characters left if any at all. Billy and Cornelius may be the only two characters worth cheering for, but we have to remember that everyone here is terrible in one way or another.
Zeek is pretty cartoonish, but the same can be said about the series as a whole. At this point, viewers either like what they’re seeing or they’re just sticking around to see how it plays out. It’s a bit difficult to be enthusiastic about any of it right now. Most viewers would agree since it seems like the series lost the majority of its audience after the first series concluded.
No one would complain if a bomb was dropped in the middle of London and all the gangs were wiped out. At the very least, that would be a fitting conclusion to a series that thrives on violence. The episode scores a 5 out of 10. Recaps of Gangs Of London can be found here.
