Terrence (Aaron Pierre) and his friend, Flowers (Jodie Tyack), are transported to the station. We see Terrence’s badly bruised face, as profile pictures are taken. Terrence threatens the detectives. Sergeant Harris (Andrew Brooke) admits to Len (Sam Reid) that he will not be able to stop an investigation into the attack. The Sergeant tells Len to make sure Gibbs (Blake Harrison) has his story straight. Meanwhile, Clifford (Alun Armstrong) and the others continue drilling through the wall. They’re stopped by Silas (Anthony Skordi), who informs them that a policeman is outside.

David (Jay Taylor) is nowhere to be found. Thankfully for the Bentley boys, Silas is able to convince the policeman that nothing is wrong. When Jane (Stefanie Martini) finally arrives at the station, she is greeted by Len. He makes sure she is okay. After stepping inside, Jane is reprimanded by Harris for being late yet again. At this time, Nathan Stone (James Hillier) requests to speak with his new client, Terrence. The detectives are contacted about Eddie’s body. DS Paul Lawrence (Jordan Long) informs Len that a broken off syringe was found on the body. The body is transported away, while John (Lex Shrapnel) attacks his brother. Meanwhile, Kath (Jessica Gunning) and Len look over money found in Terrence’s house. Kath is told to contact the bank and get serial numbers for George’s money. Nancy Phillips (Joanna Bacon) is allowed to see Eddie’s body. She confirms it is her son, before lashing out at Spencer. Jane manages to calm her down, before asking the woman about Dwayne or Terrence. Nancy insists she doesn’t know either name, before blaming her son’s death on Julie. Terrence is questioned about his relationship with Eddie and Julie. Len shows Terrence and his solicitor the picture of the trio together. Then, the detectives sit down with Flowers. The girl immediately backs up Terrence’s story about the attack. She places the blame directly on Gibbs. Next, Harris speaks with Jane and tells her that those investigating the attack on Terrence will want to speak with her. Harris admits he heard she was downstairs when it all started.

Len heads to the morgue and consults with Dr. Martin (Ian Beattie). The doctor admits the wound on his head likely happened after he died. Back at the station, Kath and Jane confirms that the bills came from George Collins. Outside, Spencer speaks with Jane. Spencer offers to take her out for a drink. Jane admits she doesn’t know what she will tell the detectives. That night, Jane hangs out at home, while Pam (Rosie Day) gets drunk with her friends. Joyce (Geraldine Somerville) finds Jane cleaning up when she returns home. Also, David watches over the café. This time, the group gets a visit from the neighbor. The woman asks about the noise, before Clifford emerges and gives her advice to stay with a boyfriend until they’re finished. She wisely takes his advice. Len visits Jane and tries to coax her into lying about the attack.

Actor Andrew Brooke Prime Suspect 1973

In the morning, Joyce and Andrew (Nicholas Sidi) confront Jane and try to get to the bottom of Len’s visit. She tells them whatever goes on at the station is none of their business. Spencer speaks with the investigators. He sticks with the story Len provided. During this time, Jane pays a visit to Flowers. She quickly discovers that the girl is withdrawing from drugs. She agrees to get her help, as long as she tells the truth. Flowers confirms she saw Terrence with Julie. Eventually, she relents and admits to seeing Eddie as well. Len is escorted to Flowers’ cell. There, he learns that Terrence tricked Eddie into shooting up a poisonous chemical. Len and DC Ashton (Daniel Ezra) confront Terrence with the new evidence seconds later. Terrence remains adamant that he is innocent. Seconds later, Jane speaks with the investigators. Harris remains by her side.

Actress Jodie Tyack Prime Suspect 1973

Despite some hesitancy, Jane sticks with Len’s story. Afterwards, Len thanks Tennison and insists they’ve just cleared another hurdle. When Jane returns to Kath, she learns that she is now a member of the team. That night, Jane packs her belongings and moves out of her parent’s place. She speaks with Sergeant Fred Turner (Ian Burfield). She is told she cannot have boys on the second floor. Once Jane gets settled in, she heads to the club. Jane is celebrated, before Spencer enters and confirms he was cleared. Spencer’s band starts to play, when Len arrives. When Len ignores Jane, she returns home. He follows her. One thing leads to another and they wind up sleeping together. The next day, Jane is given the duty of visiting Ashley Brennan. The others giggle at the idea. After a formal introduction, Ashley lets Jane listen to the radio conversations he has recorded.

Actor Neil Hancock Prime Suspect 1973

Ashley exclaims that those speaking are criminals. We can tell right away that it is the Bentley boys. Jane returns to the station and updates the others. Of course, they admit it is nothing more than a station joke. Meanwhile, Renee tells John that David has gone out. John becomes enraged when he learns that David went to check into rehab. David enters the hospital, while Jane visits Flowers at the same facility. On the way out, Jane encounters the brothers. She quickly recognizes their voices. Jane tells Harris about the two men outside. She also tells him about her previous encounter with Renee and John. Harris admits he knows the boys. Then, the brothers visit a local lockup to grab their supplies.

David remains inside a little too long. John ushers him outside. On the ground, we see a bracelet very similar to the one found on Julie’s body.

Prime Suspect 1973 Review

The 4th episode of Prime Suspect 1973 saw the detectives recover Eddie’s body and arrest Terrence for both murders. Jane was also forced to make a drastic move. By following Len’s advice, she overcame her white guilt and lied for Spencer. This eventually led to Len and Jane taking their relationship one step further. Also, a chance encounter with Ashley finally put Jane on the trail to Clifford Bentley and his boys. The episode was great. It was very enthralling watching Jane struggle with her own morality over Spencer’s case.

Nevertheless, she let Len lead her astray and the could come back to haunt her in the near future. While Terrence has been officially charged with both murders, plenty of questions still remain and his guilt is not absolute. How is David and John linked to Julie? Several key scenes from past episodes make it clear David likely knows something about her murder. All in all, this episode was great. An 8 out of 10 is deserved. Ellie asks about the grass and mud stains found on his suit. He doesn’t answer. Outside, Alec and Ellie tries to figure out what might’ve pushed Ed over the edge. They get a message from Trish about the computer. Then, they pay a visit to Ian. Ian makes an excuse for stealing the computer. Ian hands over the computer, before asking about Ed. Ian confirms that Ed had been sexually harassing Trish for a period of time. After the end of the episode, Chloe (Charlotte Beaumont) gets a call from Mark. It looks like Mark is in the same location where Danny was found. It appears he could throw himself over the edge of the cliff.

Broadchurch Review

The 6th episode pushed the narrative further, while potentially bringing an end to Mark Latimer’s struggles. This episode mainly focused on Ed as the primary suspect. This also hurt his daughter and got her removed from the case. While the racial propaganda was very off putting, the episode was decent. Actually, the story could’ve been wrapped up perfectly in 6 episodes. It feels like Alec and Ellie are retracing their steps repeatedly. At least Mark’s aimless hunt for Joe will finally stop now.

A 6.5 out of 10 is earned. Catch up with previous recaps of Broadchurch now!

Prime Suspect 1973 Review

The 5th episode of Prime Suspect 1973 was undoubtedly the best of the series. The pace was sped up immensely and I felt like I was on the edge of my seat throughout. Len let his hatred for Clifford negate his rationality. This ultimately led to a major disaster, which could have potentially killed Clifford, John, Len, and many others. On the other hand, David betrayed his family to save himself. David is definitely keep something a secret. Now that Jane has found the bracelet in his possession, he will become the sole focus of their investigation.

Will the truth be revealed in the upcoming finale. The 5th episode scores an 8 out of 10. Catch up with previous recaps of Prime Suspect 1973 now!

Jane returns to her duties and watches as the others do the same.

Prime Suspect 1973 Review

The finale of Prime Suspect 1973 was very satisfying. The truth about Julie-Ann’s murder was finally revealed. It wasn’t necessarily jaw-dropping, but it still featured a decent twist. David’s problems cumulated and nearly pushed him over the edge. Nevertheless, it was his father that ended his suffering. David’s demise was very emotional and well done. In the end, Clifford proved he only cared for himself and that is who he was left with.

We can only imagine what happened when Clifford once again faced down Clay. At the end of the episode, Julie realized she was right where she belonged. The finale was very good. An 8.5 out of 10 is well deserved. Catch up with previous recaps of Prime Suspect 1973 right now! I would certainly watch a second season should ITV decide to make one.

Vera gives Jake the duty of monitoring Ferguson, after Murphy is ousted. Jake speaks with Joan and tells her Vera wasn’t involved. Vera immediately gets rid of the evidence. Back at work, Franky tries to speak with her boss again. Before she can, detectives enter and arrest her for the murder of Mike.

Wentworth Review

So, the episode confirms that Bea Smith is indeed dead. To fill in the gaps, it appears the writers will create a power struggle between Allie, Kaz, Franky and Joan Ferguson. Maxine is apparently out of the picture, as she will be heading to Barnhurst for a few months. That will prove to be problematic for Kaz and her allies, since Joan Ferguson has seemingly gained superhuman strength over night. While the episode had some good moments, a lot of it was very cheesy. The fighting scene was definitely over the top.

Also, the Mike character wasn’t at all realistic. In order to enjoy the episode, the viewer must suspend reality and embrace the cartoonish nature of Mike and Ferguson. I’d prefer to see The Freak as a brilliant manipulator rather than a superhuman monster straight out of a comic book. Hopefully the upcoming episodes will be more grounded in reality. The opening episode of season 5 scores a 6 out of 10. Catch up with previous recaps of Wentworth now.

Bellevue Review

This episode of Bellevue sunk deeper into the obscene. Just when you thought it couldn’t get any more ludicrous, it did. The big reveal wasn’t that big in the end. The reasoning behind Jesse’s murder was even more childish. It is really difficult to like Bellevue when the storyline is this unrealistic. It is clearly obvious that Adam is responsible for saving Annie’s life. So, will they finally team up and bring down Peter? We’ll find out in the next episode. A 4.5 out of 10 is deserved. He insists he was going to use the condoms on one of the waiters at Axehampton. Jim is adamant that Alec would’ve done the same thing in his position. Katie (Georgina Campbell) visits her father. She finds him getting drunk. Katie blames her father for causing her to lose her job. She pleads with her father to stop hiding stuff from her. Ian calls Alec and confirms that Leo Humphries (Chris Mason) is responsible for the spyware. Leo is taken to the station and questioned. He admits he felt loyal to Ian, since he helped him through a rough time when he was young. He also confirms he was at the party for a brief period. The detectives admit they cannot charge him. Ed finds a bag of twine with blood on it. Kate arrives and inspects it. At the end of the episode, Lindsay breaks into Clive’s vault and finds his stash of women’s belongings. Clive arrives at that very moment.

Broadchurch Review

More lies were uncovered in the 7th episode of Broadchurch’s 3rd series. The condoms were finally found in Jim’s car. Nevertheless, he was able to explain it all away. We learned the truth about Ian and Trish’s computer. While Ian was up to no good, his intentions were far less sinister than initially believed. Our prime suspect after the 7th episode is Clive Lucas. Now that Lindsay has discovered his stash, how will Clive react? If he is the killer, he will not be able to let her live.

Did Ed discover the bloody twine or did he intentionally place it there? And finally, why hasn’t someone asked Trish and Laura about the rapist’s race? Wouldn’t that rule out Ed right away? Despite a few hiccups, the episode was still good. A 7.5 out of 10 is deserved. Catch up with previous episode recaps of Broadchurch now.

As Nick steps outside, he learns that someone stole Izzy’s bike. She admits she knows who it is and the guy has been bothering her for awhile now. After learning that it is Nick’s birthday, Izzy gives him a big kiss.

House Husbands Review

The 9th episode was definitely better than the previous. I am not a big fan of Izzy or the haphazard and rushed relationship between her and Nick. Nevertheless, the Izzy character worked well alongside Lewis. I personally wasn’t too fond of the Rafiq character in the past episodes. However, he finally became a little likeable here. It feels like we’re gearing up for something big. Things are going too good for most of our characters and House Husbands always throws an emotional curveball in there near the end of each season.

This episode was definitely an improvement. A 7.5 out of 10 is deserved. Catch up with previous recaps of House Husbands now.

William insists it’ll be okay, since Lucy is strong like her mother.

Harlots Review

Harlots was far different that what I initially expected. I figured the show would try to take a more realistic approach to the subject matter. Nevertheless, I still enjoyed the first episode. It had a good mixture of humor, emotion, and plenty of backstabbing. Charlotte’s storyline will most likely lead into something romantic over the coming episodes. Margaret and Lydia will continue to bicker until one of them emerges as the victor. And of course, Lucy has taken the center stage. It is fairly obvious the girl isn’t cut out for the prostitute route.

Where does Lucy go from here? Does she follow in the footsteps of her mother and sister or will she ascend to something better? Only time will tell. The series started out good. The pilot episode scores a 7.5 out of 10.

Bellevue Review

Well, I am glad Bellevue’s finale unraveled the truth and put an end to everything. I am not sure I could make it through another season. One could guess the writers wanted viewers to sympathize with people that are bullied for being different. Sadly, that message often got misapprehended along the way. The finale was fairly predictable, but satisfying enough. The problem is that it was very difficult not to lose interest in the series after the first few episodes. Much of the intrigue got lost in the degenerate sexual propaganda pushing the narrative.

Jesse’s struggle could’ve been fascinating. However, the writers went overboard with too many references to incest and pedophilia. That really deteriorated the message they were trying to deliver regarding Jesse and his struggle with his sexuality. There is a plus. The series is over. The finale scores a 5 out of 10. Harlots Review

I suppose this means war now? The second episode of Harlots was definitely a good time. The series is slowly starting to ramp up the drama. We delved a little deeper into the history surrounding Margaret and Lydia, but it seems like both women have their own unique take on the story. It is likely the truth falls somewhere in between both tales. Also, Lucy took her future into her own hands and sold her virginity. With help from Nathaniel Lennox, Margaret now has enough money to move into a better home.

And of course, Charlotte is beginning to develop a stronger relationship with Daniel. How will Howard handle it? The episode was fun and humorous. It deserves a 7.5 out of 10. Catch up with previous recaps of Harlots now!

Harlots Review

The 3rd episode of Harlots pushed Margaret and Harriet to their breaking points. Lydia seems to be getting the best of Margaret at every turn. While Harriet was able to secure her freedom, she has potential lost her children to Benjamin. On the other hand, Lucy also experienced turmoil during her visit with Lord Repton. It is clear she is not cut out of the life of a harlot. So, how will Margaret get revenge on Lydia?

We’ll find out soon enough. The 3rd episode scores a 7 out of 10. Catch up with previous recaps of Harlots now!

Wentworth Review

Sorry if it feels like this recap was rushed. Have been busy and had to get it done as quickly as possible. Nevertheless, the second episode of Wentworth’s 5th season was decent. It is kind of disappointing to see the writers try to return Franky to prison, in order to fill the void left behind by Bea. This episode shaped the future of the season and that is a good thing. It is clear Franky and Allie will attempt to unite to clear Franky’s name, while simultaneously avenging Bea.

Doreen is aimless at this point and should’ve already been dropped. Liz is on the verge of ruining her life. And finally, Vera and Ferguson will likely butt heads very soon. The episode was good, but not yet great. A 7 out of 10 is deserved. Catch up with previous recaps of Wentworth now!

Broadchurch Review

The finale of Broadchurch’s 3rd season was hit and miss. The revelation that Leo and Michael were responsible for Trish’s rape was great and unpredictable. It was also nice to see that Clive did indeed care for Michael to some degree. Unfortunately, the finale was bogged down with aimless chatter between Beth and Mark. The entire season was slow and tedious, yet the finale felt rushed. We learned nothing about the future of Jim and Cath. How about Katie and Ed?

The writers focused too heavily on the Latimer family and it ultimately fell flat. In fact, Mark should’ve been removed from the equation long ago. Beth at least had a purpose this sense. For the finale of the entire series, Broadchurch definitely went out on a low note. There were far too many unanswered questions. The time wasted on the Latimer family could’ve been put to far better use. A 6.5 out of 10 is awarded to Broadchurch’s finale. Catch up with previous recaps of Broadchurch now!

Harlots Review

The 4th episode of Harlots was great by all accounts. The episode pushed Lucy closer into becoming a full-fledged harlot. Nevertheless, she is unlike the other girls in many ways. She seems more meticulously and thinks things through far more effectively than her counterparts. Harriet was also forced to make a decision. Unlike Lucy, Harriet threw herself into harloting with full force. We also learned that Florence was once a prostitute herself. Since Lydia is the sole owner of that knowledge, she owns Florence and her preaching will never stop. As for Amelia, she delved into the dark side with Violet.

What will become of their relationship? Benjamin is very much like his father. He now has pull over Margaret and Harriet. Will the women be able to push him out of their lives? The episode scores a 7.5 out of 10. Catch up with previous recaps of Harlots now.

House Husbands Review

The 10th episode of House Husbands’ 5th series was good. Rachel pushed and pushed until Nick relented and signed the application for the joint bank account. Will Rachel regret that decision in the upcoming episode? Of course, the episode focused heavily on Lewis and his new political position. Despite trying his best, Lewis was unable to stop Nepean South from closing. Due to his failure, the others ended up blaming him for the school’s closure. How will Lewis solve the problem and reclaim his good name?

Also, it appears Justin is on the verge of entering into a relationship with Izzy. I guess we’re just supposed to forget about Izzy kissing Nick in a prior episode? This episode scores a 7 out of 10. Catch up with previous recaps of House Husbands now.

That night, the Danes begin peddling their slaves. Trew and Beocca approach and speak with the men.

The Danes quickly assume control and force Trew, Beocca, and Hild off of their horses. Beocca tells a tale about undead horsemen. Uhtred and several others arrive on horses. Uhtred pretends he was sent by Odin. He manages to scare the Danes and trap Sven. Nevertheless, Beocca prevents Uhtred from ending Sven’s life. Hild kills the slave seller. After the Danes flee, Beocca finds Guthred (Thure Lindhardt). Sven is sent into the woods blindfolded and with his hands ties behind his back. In the morning, Guthred thanks Uhtred for his help. They come to an agreement to form an army, which Uhtred will lead. Sven is saved and transported back to the stronghold. There, he is belittled by his father for his cowardice. The Danes are ordered to find the priest and the lepers.

Sven heads downstairs and speaks with Thyra (Julia Bache-Wiig). He tries to convince the woman to keep her dogs quiet, so his father will not kill them. Thyra is unfazed. She chants a spell and sends Sven rushing back upstairs. Meanwhile, Uhtred and Guthred agree to return to Cumberland before taking Eoferwic. Gisela (Peri Baumeister) learns about her brother’s return. They’re greeted by Abbot Eadred (David Schofield). Guthred is reunited with his people, before undergoing the sacred oath with Uhtred by his side. Abbot Eadred speaks with Trew in private. He admits he doesn’t trust Uhtred and would like to remove him from the picture. Before Hild heads to bed, she urges Uhtred to teach her sword skills in the morning.

Meanwhile, Alfred speaks with Brida (Emily Cox) and Ragner (Tobias Santelmann). They speak about the current situation. Alfred also expresses his intention to strengthen England’s trade. He insists there needs to be peace for that to happen. Seconds later, Fiske (Erik Madsen) returns with information. Sven tells his father that Guthred has become a king. He also explains that Uhtred is the commander of his army. Tekil (Marc Rissmann) is ordered by Kjartan to join the army and kill the king. He is commanded to bring Uhtred back alive.

The Last Kingdom Review

While many of the characters from the first series remain, this episode introduced several others, including Brother Trew, Guthred, and Father Hrothweard. While Alfred was able to win the battle, the war is far from over. England is still not united. To solve that problem, Alfred has attempted to buy influence by saving Guthred. At this point, Uhtred’s primary goal is to reclaim Bebbanburg. However, it is almost certain that he’ll get sidelined along the way. Still, he has gained Guthred’s trust and is now in control of his army. That should help him significantly.

The episode delivered the perfect blend of action and humor. It was a little slow at points, but great nevertheless. A 7.5 out of 10 is awarded to the pilot. Catch up with previous recaps of The Last Kingdom now!

Later that night, Uhtred shares a meal with Clapa (Magnus Samuelsson) and the others. Uhtred goes off on his own and speaks with Gisela (Peri Baumeister) in the chapel. Gisela admits Guthred acts like he is her father. Brother Trew (Peter McDonald) notices the couple chatting. Gisela is adamant that she will not become her brother’s gift. After the conversation ends, Uhtred is told his horse is sick. He is separated from the others and attacked by Tekil and the Danes. With help from his friends, Uhtred manages to defeat the Danes. All Danes are killed except for Sihtric (Arnas Fedaravicius). Uhtred orders Halig and Clapa to behead the Danes and store the heads in a bag for later use. Sihtric requests to speak with Uhtred, since he wants to serve him. His request is denied.

Peri Baumeister The Last Kingdom

Clapa and Halig are hesitant to behead the corpses. Instead, Hild (Eva Birthistle) takes it upon herself to do so. She earns a reward and takes armor from one of the corpses. In the morning, Guthred gathers his men and confirms he is ready to travel to Eoferwic. Earl Ulf (Andre Eriksen) quickly speaks out against the move, since he is concerned about leaving the city unprotected. Abbot Eadred defends Guthred’s decision. He insists they will be safe, as long as they carry the Saint’s body with them. Beocca (Ian Hart) requests to speak with Uhtred in private, since he will be returning to Wessex the following day. During their chat, Beocca warns Uhtred that those around Guthred are against him. He also warns him against doing anything stupid with Gisela. Nevertheless, Uhtred seems reluctant to change his path.

Before the group departs, Hild dresses in the Dane’s armor. On the trail, Trew and the Abbot speak about Uhtred. It is clear they’re planning to remove him from the picture as soon as possible. Back in Wessex, Alfred (David Dawson) and Aelswith (Eliza Butterworth) watch their daughter practice her sword skills. Alfred admits he doesn’t want Aethelflaed (Millie Brady) to get married. Seconds later, Sihtric requests to go into the woods to use the bathroom. Halig and other man are given the duty to watch him. However, Sihtric manages to outsmart them and hold Halig captive. Uhtred rushes over and negotiates with the Dane. He agrees to let Sihtric join the army with Guthred’s approval. The group stops for a break. They chat about religion. The Abbot is reminded that Uhtred is Pagan and doesn’t believe in their god.

The Abbot admits he believes Uhtred could be dangerous. Gisela quickly suggests otherwise. Later that night, Uhtred sneaks into Gisela’s tent. They sleep together. Trew nearly catches them, but he is stopped by Hild. Trew speaks with the Abbot. Trew is given orders to travel to Bebbanburg and strike a deal with Aelfric (Joseph Millson). In the morning, Sihtric, Halig and Hild spot the Danes. After meeting back up with Uhtred and Guthred, Sihtric points out Sigefrid (Bjorn Bengtsson) and Erik (Christian Hillborg). Uhtred quickly informs Guthred that now would be the time to strike. Guthred isn’t sure and admits he wants to think it over. Guthred groups everyone together and discusses their options. He goes against Uhtred and decides to negotiate with the Danes.

The Last Kingdom Sihtric

Guthred and Uhtred speak with the two Dane leaders moments later. Guthred manages to strike a peace deal with the men. Seconds later, Guthred and Uhtred ride into Eoferwic. Guthred agrees to speak with Uhtred in private later. Before that, he decides to pray with the Abbot. Uhtred grabs the bag full of heads and asks Sihtric about the weakness of Kjartan’s fortress. Sihtric insists there are no weakness. Uhtred doesn’t believe it and rides towards the fortress on his own. During this time, the Abbot tries to convince Guthred that Uhtred will become a problem for him in the near future. He also admits it would be a good idea to team up with Uhtred’s uncle. Trew delivers the letter to Aelfric. He also makes it clear the Uhtred has talked frequently of killing Aelfric.

Aelfric The Last Kingdom

After a brief chat, Aelfric agrees to help in return for Osbert’s head. Trew learns that Osbert is Uhtred’s other name. Uhtred arrives at the fortress and prepares for a grand entrance. Fiske (Erik Madsen) is sent outside of the fortress in the morning. He is ordered to inspect the heads outside. He makes his way to the last one and confirms it belongs to Tekil. Uhtred, who is dressed up like the headless horseman, rides through and beheads Fiske. Then, he taunts Kjartan (Alexandre Willaume), before riding away. Guthred finally sits down with Uhtred. Uhtred expresses his desire to be placed on the same level as the other lords. He also admits he would like to marry Gisela. Guthred seems to have no trouble accepting Uhtred’s demands.

In the morning, Uhtred is taken captive. Hild quickly learns about it and informs Gisela. She tells Gisela that she may be the only one that can save him. Uhtred and Halig are caged and told they’ll be traded to Aelfric for 200 swords. Hild travels to Winchester and alerts Beocca and Alfred. After a brief chat, Alfred agrees to send Ragnar (Tobias Santelmann) to hunt for Uhtred. Near the end of the episode, Uhtred and Halig try to escape. They fail and are forced onto a slave ship.

The Last Kingdom Review

The second episode of The Last Kingdom’s second series quickly shattered the alliance between Uhtred and Guthred. At first, the pair got along exceptionally well. However, Trew and Abbot Eadred managed to convince Guthred that Uhtred was a threat to his crown. And, perhaps Uhtred’s desire to marry Gisela had something to do with the betrayal? Now, Uhtred and Halig have been sold as slaves. Ragnar has been sent to hunt for them. I knew it was only a matter of time before Alfred and Uhtred teamed up again.

I am interested to see how it all plays out. The episode was much faster paced than the previous. An 8 out of 10 is awarded to the episode. View our older recaps of The Last Kingdom now!

That night, Ragnar confirms Halig has been given a proper burial. Later, Hild wakes Uhtred and washes the wounds on his back. She also returns his sword. Hild admits she kept it sharp, because she knew he would return. Hild gives Uhtred a cross necklace and insists it will protect him. Uhtred promises to repay the favor.

Meanwhile, Gisela is forced to hide when Trew and Aidan arrive at the church. That night, Ragnar is told he will need to return to Alfred first thing. Uhtred learns about Gisela waiting for him and he decides to reunite with her immediately. At the church, the Abbot tries to marry Aelfric and Gisela, while using Aidan as a proxy. Uhtred arrives just after the vows are completed. He becomes angered with the Abbot and kills him. Afterwards, Uhtred returns to Alfred. Alfred quickly uses the Abbot’s murder to manipulate Uhtred and force him to join his army. Uhtred eventually agrees and helps set Ragnar free.

The Last Kingdom Review

The 3rd episode of The Last Kingdom’s 2nd series was undoubtedly the best this far. The episode was unlike any from the past and put Uhtred in an unusual situation. As a slave, Uhtred had little to no control over his destiny. Nevertheless, he managed to band together with Finan and Halig to overcome the struggle. Sadly, Halig was killed brutally by the slaver. While Uhtred was able to reunite with Gisela, his recklessness played right into Alfred’s hands. Now, Uhtred is once again indebted to Alfred.

Meanwhile, Guthred’s incompetence and naivety finally caught up with him. His treaty with the Danes fell apart, forcing him to sell his sister to Aelfric for men and peace. Now that Uhtred is working with Alfred, it is highly likely he will encounter Guthred before too long. It will be interesting to see how that plays out. The episode scores a high 8.5 out of 10. Cunliffe pleads for help. Emily is forced to take shelter with Nancy. At the dinner, Charlotte causes a scene and tells everyone about Howard’s abusive behavior. At the end of the episode, Charlotte leaves on her own.

Harlots Review

The 5th episode of Harlots took a different turn and settled down the conflict between Margaret and Lydia. Instead, Florence’s illness took a turn for the worse. Amelia was forced to care for her mother, while simultaneously juggling her feelings for Violet and her religion. Also, Margaret tried to help Harriet secure the freedom of her children from Benjamin. Nevertheless, that fell through. Lucy and Charlotte took different paths in their search for a keeper. Charlotte has seemingly cut her ties with Howard, while Lucy has come to the conclusion that she isn’t cut out for the Harlot’s life.

The episode was good with many intricate paths and storylines to keep the viewer interested. A 7.5 out of 10 is deserved. Catch up with previous recaps of Harlots now!
